Dutch Language Courses

Even though most people in Groningen are fluent in English, knowing at least some Dutch always comes in handy. That is why, today we are going to tell you about places where you can take Dutch language courses.

Online courses

If you have read our post before, you might already know about the online tools that are usually used for learning Dutch from our previous article on this matter. If you don’t, then I will leave the link here.

Of course, language courses are the easy way. You can listen to some audio books at home, or on your way to work, or whenever you have a small break or do some exercises once in a while. But this is not enough sometimes. If you want to learn Dutch and be able to speak it correctly, then you should go to some language classes.

Language classes- The Language Center

The University of Gronigen offers language courses for international students. You can take free Dutch courses if you are an international degree student in a Bachelor, Master or PhD programme and you have started your studies after 2013. You can find out more about the eligibility criteria here.

The Language Center of the University of Groningen will offer language courses starting September. If you are interested in learning Dutch or other foreign languages then you should hurry because the registration is now opened. You can find out more about the timetables and registration process on the website.

Also, the Language Center offers an online course named Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).  The next session wiss start on August 15 so you should check it out asap.

There are also two other centers near Groningen where you can learn Dutch. They are Ziggurat and  Say it in Dutch. The second one offers also online tools and email courses.

So, if you want to learn Dutch, you should check out all this websites and find the perfect course for you.

    For your information: for self study there is a much praised grammar book in English: Concise Dutch Grammar, written by Dick Rietveld and Hanneke Klep, published by Wolters-Noordhoff. Available in book shops.
