Heritage Day in Groningen
Saturday, September 10th is Heritage Day ( Open Monumentendag) in Groningen . On this day, the most important historical buildings in and outside the city are open to the public.
The theme of this year’s event is: Icons and symbols, images and characters with a special meaning.
In Groningen, you will be guided along a number of buildings with historic (stucco) ceilings, often decorated with special ornaments, figurines and symbols and one of the oldest houses in the city.
There are also tours of the historic iron structures of the platform roofs at the Groningen Central Station and there is a special tour of street art. RHC Groninger Archives will give workshops on building research in the monumental house ‘De Drie Vlasblommen’ at the Hoge der A.
Wall House # 2 opens its doors to the public on Saturday, as an icon of modern architecture.
